Fire & EMS
The purpose of the department is to prevent fires from starting, save lives and protect the people and property of Almira Township should fire, medical or other threatening situations occur. To confine fire to its origin, to extinguish fire by the most efficient means possible, provide mutual aid to surrounding communities and provide emergency medical services.
Almira Township is served by a combined fire department and basic life support ambulance service. Coverage is provided 24/7 by trained volunteers, and is also staffed Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM by a two person duty crew who are trained as both Fire-fighters and EMTs. During these hours the station is open to township residents to come and check out the station, or you can also get your blood pressure and glucose checked free of charge. It is a good idea to call first to make sure the duty crew is not out on an emergency call. The station number is 231-275-5863.
The Almira Township Fire & EMS Department is always in need of new members. If you are interested in becoming a trained Firefighter, EMT or Medical First Responder, or are already trained as such, and are willing to dedicate a small portion of your life to community service, please contact one of our members or call the station during duty crew hours. 231-275-5863
